Lawn Dethatching

Power raking is one of the first thing we like to do in the early spring. We use a thatching machine to remove the thatch in your lawn. Power raking your lawn in the spring time is also good for removing any debris like leaves, sticks, and deed grass that may accumulate over the winter. Power raking your lawn also helps to get air, water and nutrients into your lawn faster.
What is Thatch? Thatch is the layer of grass stems, dead roots, and debris that accumulates above the soil and below grass blades. Thatch is not a problem unless it becomes too thick. A thatched lawn will feel spongy underfoot. Insect and disease may develop in the thatch layer, and getting enough water and fertilizer into the soil becomes difficult.
When is the best time to Dethatch? The best time to dethatch is just before the lawn's most vigorous growth of the season. For warm-season grasses, dethatch when warm weather begins in late spring. Cool-season grasses grow best in spring and fall. The prime time to dethatch is in the fall; the second-best time is early spring.

Aeration
Roots need air as well as water and nutrients in order to grow. Lawns, Especially those that receive heavy use, can develop compacted, air-deficient soil. Compact soil also restricts the absorption of water as well as air. Correcting compacted soil is described as aeration. Aeration allows metal tubes 1/4 to 3/4 inch in diameter are pushed into the soil, by machine, to a depth of 3 to 4 inches, sometimes deeper. The soil should be moist when this is done not too wet and not too dry.

Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is quickly becoming the number 1 way of establishing a new lawn quickly. Hydroseeding in a process of combining water, grass seed mixer, starter fertilizer, tackifier, and mulch blends to hold in the moisture. This thick slurry is the sprayed on your prepped lawn area. The tackifier agent when dries acts as a mat over your grass seed and hydroseed mixers to keep them from puddling and erosion before the new grass germinates. We use nothing but the best quality grassed and fertilizers. Our grass seed blends consist of Blue grass, fescue, and perennial grass seed.
